Christopher J. Fleischut has been practicing in the field of immigration and nationality law with Finnan, Fleischut & Associates since 1985. He has been the managing principal of the firm since 1993, following Mr. Finnan's retirement from the practice. Mr. Fleischut has extensive experience in all aspects of employment based visa work. He also has extensive experience with a wide range of family-based visas and processes, naturalization, and political asylum practice. He is past Chair of the Santa Clara Valley Chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association. Mr. Fleischut holds an undergraduate degree in Russian from Yale University, a Masters degree in Comparative Literature from the University of California, Berkeley, and a J.D. degree from Hastings College of the Law. He is a member of the California State Bar; and admitted into the U.S. District Court, Northern District of California and the U.S. Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit. Mr. Fleischut is conversant in Russian, German and Spanish. In his spare time, Mr. Fleischut enjoys swimming, bicycling, reading, studying languages, cooking and coaching Little League.
As a first generation American, Ms. Merchant is particularly committed to the field of immigration law. Since 2013, Ms. Merchant has been representing corporate clients on a wide variety of business immigration law matters. Ms. Merchant has filed numerous nonimmigrant and immigrant visa petitions, including but not limited to, H-1B, TN, O-1, L-1A, L-1B, Outstanding Researcher petitions, Extraordinary Ability Petitions, and many more.
During law school, Ms. Merchant was a Legal Advocate at the Katharine and George Alexander Community Law Center where she helped community members with various immigration law matters including U-Visas and VAWA petitions. She also served as the Vice-President and then the President of the South Asian Law Students Association. Ms. Merchant also gained further legal experience while working at the American Civil Liberties Union and the Santa Clara County Public Defender’s Office.
Ms. Merchant earned both her Bachelor of Commerce Degree and Juris Doctorate Degree at Santa Clara University. She is in good standing with the State Bar of California and is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association. Ms. Merchant is fluent in Urdu and Hindi.
In her free time, Ms. Merchant enjoys running, Netflix marathons, and attempting to recreate her mother’s delicious Indian recipes.
